WEATHER CANCELLATIONS AND SUBSEQUENT RESCHEDULING OF GAMES

Games Scheduled at Non-School Fields-Cancellation Procedures 

During inclement weather, the CSHSAA office under the direction of the CBE and CCSD and in consultation with the respective field managers will make the final determination about the suitability of the playing field conditions and any game cancellations required. Generally, the decision about cancelling games during inclement weather is made by noon. CSHSAA will make every effort to communicate cancellation details via email by noon. Any games cancelled due to inclement weather/field conditions will be changed to status of “On Hold For Rescheduling” on the CSHSAA website and coaches will need to liaise with each other to agree to reschedule details for the game and follow procedures below for Rescheduling Games. f a school team must forfeit a game, that team must inform the Association office and, the effected school via email and phone as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary travel for student athletes, families and staff, also allowing time to notify officials. 

Games Scheduled at School Fields—Cancellation Procedures 

During inclement weather, the suitability of school fields for games scheduled that day at school fields will be made by the Athletic Director and appropriate school administration. The Athletic Director and/or school administration shall confirm to CSHSAA Administrative Assistant by noon any school field closures for games scheduled that day at their school. Every effort should be made to communicate a decision by noon to allow teams to cancel buses and advise parents and athletes. Any games cancelled due to inclement weather/field conditions will be changed to status of “On Hold For Rescheduling” on the CSHSAA website and coaches will need to liaise with each other to agree to reschedule details for the game and follow procedures confirmed below for Rescheduling Games. 

Rescheduling Games 

Coaches are to liaise with each other to agree to new game details. One of the teams must submit a Game Change Request Form to the CSHSAA Administrative Assistant, who will try to reschedule the game as requested. Administrative Assistant will either change game as requested and send a confirmation email to AD’s and Coaches, or send email to the submitter of the form to advise that the requested change could not be made and confirming the conflict for their requested date/time/location. 

In the event that both coaches are unable to come to an agreement for rescheduling a game, coaches are to contact the Executive Director who will reschedule the game where (and if) time permits.
